I didn’t think it was possible but after catching two trains to college this week, I’ve realised that train stations are the only ones who are able to control the process of time. I noticed that on the electronic boards on the platforms which tell you which train’s arriving next, there is also an estimated time period.
The first time I caught a train this week, the time went down to 2 minutes and then quickly dissapeared with the expected train arriving a good 3-4 minutes after the time went.
The second time it went down to 2 minutes again and stayed on 2 minutes for approx. 5 minutes before it went to 1 minute and then the train arriving.
It must be a lot of fun for controllers to keep pressing the buttons and delaying time. I reckon if station controllers just added 30 secs. on to each minute, then no one would be the wiser as to knowing that they’ve actually waited an extra 4 minutes on top of the 8 minutes that was shown.
Maybe commuters could sue the STA for false advertising!!
